Betrayal Trauma
Has a loved one betrayed your trust in some way? Have you learned of some devastating news that has you struggling with what to do next? Or perhaps have you witnessed something that now has your world turned upside down? One Recovery is familiar with the anger, the tears, the denial, the bargaining, and many of the stages of grief associated with being betrayed. One Recovery is also familiar with the post traumatic stress that comes with discovering betrayal. I am glad you have made it this far and want you to invite you to keep going. Please, allow me to introduce what I do to help my clients.
My aim is to assist in healing the wounds inflicted by addicts and persons challenged with unhealthy attachment, treating the associated symptoms of betrayal trauma, empowering my clients to access the healing they are looking for. Here, I treat unwelcome thoughts and memories, unhealthy beliefs about oneself, issues with sleep, the avoidance of certain triggers,, problems with concentration, trust issues, anger, and many other debilitating factors directly related to betrayal trauma. I also help rewire the brain that may have been devastated by narcissistic behaviors. Furthermore, I help my clients get back to the quality of living they desire, helping them get back to being socially engaged, thriving in the workplace, continuing and/or finishing educational and aspiring pursuits, and eventually puruing healthy and whole intimacy with self and others.
At One Recovery, I partner with my clients by primarily supporting the therapeutic goals necessary for recovery, while also challenging any barriers and pitfalls that have led to unhealthy relationships . The interventions I use to help betrayed partners include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-informed brain-based techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques. I partner with individuals by helping them unlock the disturbances associated with their trauma, helping change the way their brain responds to triggering situations. Clients I have worked with in the past have reported having their nightmares stop, having more confidence to go out in public, feeling less anxious, and feeling minimally disturbed at thoughts that once haunted them.
